Balarama Puram handloom weaving is famous for Kerala Kasavu, and the history of this place is well known. The history of weaving in this area began with a few families from Tamil Nadu who were brought by King Avittom Thirunal Bala Rama Varma. Balarama Puram is named after the king and has become the hub of handloom weavers of Kerala Kasavu.

The Kerala kasavu with gold, silver, and copper borders, featuring colored piping borders with murals that give a modern touch, has been designed especially for Nayandini by these experienced new-generation weavers of this place.
